Scope of Position:

 

Negotiate and write contracts, NDAs, RFPs and RFQs

Develop and execute plans to deliver multi-sourcing and cost reduction

Supplier Relationship Management responsibilities for assigned suppliers

Issue resolution as elevated / needed

Become a Subject Matter Expert for  applicable raw materials

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

 

Develop and execute Raw Material strategies for cost reduction, supply assurance, IP protection, risk

mitigation and technical advantage for assigned materials, including cost modeling. 

Identify, lead and communicate cost reduction opportunities working with technical and engineering

communities both in supply and material selection to reduce costs through supplier, material and

utilization efforts.

Challenges specifications, materials and processes

Works with the Business and Global Strategic Sourcing Managers on assigned raw materials to prepare

and solicit competitive bids, quotations, and proposals with pertinent specifications, terms and

conditions.

Develops and reviews specifications, statements of work, performance terms and accept/reject criteria.

Conducts negotiations with potential and/or current major suppliers to obtain maximum value in total

cost of ownership (TCO).

Leads the development and communication of global supply intelligence for assigned materials. (i.e.

market intelligence, should cost modeling, low cost sourcing activities, consortiums, etc.)

Owns the Supplier Relationship Management process for the assigned materials.

Develops and cultivates effective relationships with suppliers.

Develop, maintain and execute Shared Objectives and Service Level Agreements.

Champions and advocates for the Global Buying Policy. Ensures compliance. 

Communicates with team members globally

Understands and considers/implements end to end supply chain management in all decisions related to

the materials.

Monitors and reports both positive and negative purchasing savings both in net price change, value add

and cost avoidance

 

 

Travel Requirements:

 

20% travel commitment, this could include travel to Europe and Asia along with the necessary domestic travel

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

 

40+ hours as job requires

 

Required Education:

 

Bachelor’s degree required.   BS in Engineering or Technical field highly desired.

3+ years of experience within manufacturing environment.

 

Desired Skills:

 

Industry knowledge - strong market, technical and procurement background sourcing raw materials

Innovative contracting in volatile markets to assure competitive pricing methods

Having a technical / engineering background or experience

Prefer technical / engineering background / degree

Prefer manufacturing experience  - ideally ceramic manufacturing

Strong data analysis

Project Management skills

Experience in automotive industry

IATF Internal or Lead Auditor certified and/or VDA Certified

Experience with global manufacturing and business through work or project experience

5+ years procurement/buying experience preferably in raw materials Proven track record of cost reduction, negotiations & project management

The range for this position is $80,738.00 - $111,015.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
