Program Summary

As part of the LOGCAP NORTHCOM scope, KBR provides rapid response support to scheduled and unscheduled U.S. Army training exercises. KBR’s LOGCAP team successfully completed another year of support to Warfighter operations by providing typical LOGCAP services at two locations.

Job Summary

The Tactical Vehicle Mechanic performs in accordance with ability to read and comprehend military Electronic and or Tech Manuals, to include lube orders and FMC (Fully mission capable) + Safety verifications. This includes determining and performing appropriate repair parts required, mechanical maintenance actions and repairs on various tactical vehicles, commercial vehicles, and equipment. The Tactical Vehicle Mechanic mentors and enhances the performance of co-workers and other personnel.

Roles and Responsibilities

Perform FMC (Fully Mission Capable) and safety verifications on heavy and light tactical wheeled vehicles and equipment.Identify required repair parts and conduct mechanical maintenance and repairs in accordance with IETM and TM procedures.Maintain and repair PREPO, Green, and White Fleet vehicles and equipment.Participate in the trades helper apprentice program, including validating apprentice work when applicable.Communicate effectively with customers during off-site FMC and safety verifications during Issue and Regeneration cycles.Generate and maintain both physical and electronic logbooks and records.Participate in on-the-job and cross-training as required.Meet the 95% regulatory and contract individual productivity requirement.Ensure all work is performed correctly the first time, following technical manuals and publications.Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, cranes, RTCH240/250, transport trucks, and trailers).Conduct diagnostic tests using measuring devices, instruments, and special tools to identify system failures (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, cooling).Operate and test various equipment and systems per applicable procedures.Repair and replace components such as engines, drive trains, and body parts.Prepare and complete logs, records, and NTC Inspection packets.Maintain clean and organized work areas per contract and company housekeeping standards.Perform end-of-shift clean-up no earlier than 15 minutes before shift end unless directed otherwise.Support and participate in KBR’s Zero Harm Culture, Continuous Improvement Process (CIP), and QA program.Mentor and assist with on-the-job and cross-training.Comply with all company rules, policies, procedures, and safety/environmental/quality standards.Actively participate in the master driver training program.Mitigate risk by: wearing appropriate PPE, using ground guides, conducting proper PMCS, wearing seat belts, obeying speed limits, properly disposing/storing hazardous materials, using three points of contact, stretching as neededMaintain accountability and proper care of all property and government-furnished equipment.Conduct daily inventory of assigned tools and equipment.Interact favorably with internal and external customers.Understand that failure to perform these functions may have serious consequences.Writes performance evaluation comments and reports when places in a control/ assignment directive role.Comply with all KBR rules, policies, procedures, safety, environmental, and quality standards, and maintain accountability and proper care of all property and government-furnished equipment.Must be able to perform work in extreme temperatures, low humidity, rain, and blowing sand and dust.Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds unassisted and team lift up to 50 pounds.Must be able to stand, stoop, crawl, and climb for extended periods, including in confined spaces.Must be free of medical restrictions that prevent the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).Must be willing to work uncommon hours, extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications (Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)

Must understand and be able to use technical manuals/IETM and schematic diagrams.Field of Expertise: Mechanical inspection, maintenance and repair of light, medium and heavy tactical/commercial vehicles, and equipmentMust be able to pass a U.S. Government background investigation and obtain base access. Due to this, you must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Green Card holder who has lived within the United States for at least the last 3 years to be eligible for this position.High school diploma or equivalent (GED).Education in lieu of working experience may be considered under the following conditions: Completion of an Associate’s Degree or higher in the Automotive Technology Field from an accredited institution; proof of completion by providing a college graduate certificate and transcripts of course completion. Completed education must have been within the last 5 years.Must have two and one-half (2 ½) years verifiable experience in inspection, repair, and maintenance on military combat/ tactical wheeled vehicles and their sub-systems/ MKT unit/ various trailers/ various generators and other equipment, OR Must have two and one-half (2 ½) years verifiable experience in inspection, repair, and maintenance on Civilian semitruck tractors and trailers and heavy-duty construction type equipment is included.Relevant experience must include at least six (6) months experience in the current position except when employees are promoting to a higher rated position.Requires a valid Driver’s License and ability to obtain a military operator’s permit for required vehicles and equipment.Must be able to meet CMF criteria in accordance with DA PAM 611-21 and AR 601-210 and AR750-1.Must possess valid State Real ID.

Preferred Qualifications (Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)

ASE Certification - Extensive knowledge (ASE and CERTIFICATES of completion -preferred) on power and drive train, brakes, electrical and fuel systems with two and one-half (2 ½) years verifiable maintenance experience (lubrication tasks not included). Tactical Wheeled Vehicle maintenance experience.

Pay

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40Basic Compensation: $43.63 per hour

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
