Person specification:
• An interest in metrology & engineering as a subject and the desire to learn and develop
• An interest in learning engineering first principles and the practical application of these skills.
• Must have a desire for personal development and further their knowledge through academic studies to become a highly skilled Metrologist.
• Able to adapt with a proactive approach to ways of working.
• Experience of engineering activities are advantageous but not necessary. This may include:
o Hobbies or voluntary work
o Previous work experience
o Engineering related school subjects
• Able to demonstrate a commitment to personal learning – this could include a hobby, project, or additional qualification
• Willingness to work as part of a team

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Metrology Apprentice to join our layout team at our plant in Exeter. The apprenticeship will involve learning advanced measurement methods to produce technical reports and ensuring equipment is inspected and calibrated to ensure capability for production use.
Apprentice Duties & Responsibilities:
Dimensional inspection of product, tooling, fixtures and equipment.Technical report writing and producing FAI reports.Calibration and inspection, ensuring equipment is inspected and calibrated to maintain production capability.Quality and standards, working within ISO and AS quality systems and complying with relevant regulations, standards, and procedures.Support engineering teams with drawing interpretation and technical specifications.Data analysis, retrieving, analysing, interpreting, validating, and recording measurement results and data in line with specifications.Programming of CMM’s and structured light measurement systems.Measurement techniques, applying first principles, identifying measurement needs, planning and performing tasks using tools, equipment, instrumentation, and software programs.Using CAD software to interrogate models, design templates and fixturing for part inspection.Attending training courses as required.Attaining NPL Metrology Level 1 & 2.
