The Lawyer Tax Analyst is a critical member of the Tax Department, providing specialized legal expertise and guidance on a broad spectrum of Mexican tax matters, encompassing local and federal direct and indirect taxes. This position demands a deep and comprehensive understanding of Mexican tax law, exceptional analytical and legal research capabilities, and the proven ability to interpret and apply complex tax regulations to diverse and intricate business transactions. The Lawyer Tax Analyst collaborates closely with colleagues in Legal, Tax, and Finance, ensuring the organization's strict adherence to all relevant tax laws and regulations while mitigating legal risks.
Education: Juris Doctor (JD) or Bachelor in Law from an accredited Mexican law schoolBar Admission: Active membership in the Mexican Bar Association (Barra Mexicana, Colegio de Abogados) or equivalent professional legal organization is required.Experience: Minimum of 5 years of proven experience practicing tax law in Mexico, with a substantial focus on both direct and indirect taxationTax Legal Research and Analysis:Tax Compliance and Reporting (Legal Oversight):.Tax Planning and Structuring (Legal Guidance):Actively participate in tax planning and structuring initiatives, providing critical legal guidance to minimize the organization's overall tax burden while adhering to the letter and spirit of the law.Tax Controversy and Litigation as well Tax Process for Claims and Requirments:Provide expert legal support in tax controversy matters, including administrative appeals, dispute resolution proceedings, and judicial litigation.Draft compelling legal arguments, prepare persuasive legal briefs, conduct thorough legal research, and represent the organization's interests in tax-related disputes before administrative bodies and judicial tribunalsRegulatory Compliance and Risk Management:Develop and implement robust tax compliance programs, policies, and procedures to ensure the organization's ongoing adherence to all applicable Mexican tax laws and regulations, minimizing the risk of legal penalties and reputational damage.Conduct regular legal risk assessments to identify potential tax-related legal exposures and develop proactive mitigation strategies to safeguard the organization's assets and interests.Other:Maintain meticulous and well-organized legal and tax records, ensuring compliance with all applicable record-keeping requirements.Undertake other legal and tax-related projects and responsibilities as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the Legal/Tax Department.Remain current on all relevant developments in Mexican tax law, regulatory guidance, and judicial precedents, proactively informing the organization of potential impacts and opportunities.Foster strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, including accounting, finance, and operations, to promote a culture of tax compliance and ethical business conduct.
