Gallatin College seeks course instructors (course instructors will be responsible for identifying and securing co-instructors) to teach in the following areas: + Driving and Patrol Functions + Firearms + Interview and Interrogation + Defensive Tactics + Law Enforcement Scenarios + Tactical Medicine + Crime Scene Investigation/Evidence Processing + Criminal, Juvenile, and Tribal Law + Ethics + Investigations + Other Law Enforcement Training Requirements Duties and Responsibilities + Understand industry standards and best practices as well as college rules and regulations. + Communicate well with all types of learners at different levels of expertise. + Recognize safety hazards and unsafe operation of tools or equipment and be able to instruct students in proper use. + Maintain and inventory any applicable equipment utilized in the classroom or lab settings; Inventory consumables and prepare reorder lists for restocking. + Maintain an organized and clean learning environment. + Provide and/or locate emergency medical assistance when needed. Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills + Be at least 21 years old + Two years of experience in training, teaching, or a related field. + Other combinations of education and experience may be substituted. + Have general knowledge of the theories and practices of law enforcement, public safety, and the criminal justice system. + Have an understanding of theories and practices related to adult learning. Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills + Prior teaching experience + Possess a bachelor’s degree or associate degree from an accredited college/university + Subject Matter Expert in Topics of Instruction + Documented Experience with a Professional Law Enforcement Agency + Ability to pass a background investigation + Proficient in Spanish The Successful Candidate Will + Work professionally and effectively with diverse individuals. + Possess effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. + Have the ability to contribute positively to the academic success of the students and the mission of Gallatin College Montana State University. + Have an appreciation of diverse constituencies and add intellectual diversity to the department.
