The Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution (WMCI) is specifically designed to serve as the main intake and assessment center for male inmates. It serves as a primary education and treatment center for inmates identified as requiring high levels of protective custody and medical, mental health, dental, substance abuse, life skills, cognitive/behavioral, and/or sex offender treatment services. The Housekeeping/Laundry Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination and supervision of facility cleanliness and inmate laundry processes. This position supervises inmate workers and oversees all aspects of facility housekeeping. The Housekeeping/Laundry Coordinator issues clothing and linen to the inmate population and ensures all clothing and linen are clean and sanitary. Human Resource Contact: jessica.nielsen@wyo.gov / 307-532-6613 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level. + Manage/supervise facility laundry process for the 720-bed correctional facility. This includes scheduling laundry distribution and service per policy guidelines. + Maintains an inventory of equipment and cleaning chemicals. + Recommends and provides instruction for the use of existing equipment/materials, as well as new equipment and cleaning methods. + Prepares and performs daily schedules and duties to meet sanitation and infection control needs. This includes staying up-to-date on industry standards and ensuring housekeeping processes meet/exceed standards and policy requirements. + Acts as work supervisor for inmate work crews in the laundry area, as well as janitors for common areas within the institution (hallways, offices, etc.). This includes orientation for new hires, ongoing training for specific job processes and desirable employment skills, as well as performance monitoring/documentation for evaluations, raises, terminations, etc. Escort/supervise inmate janitors for cleaning of restricted areas, such as staff offices. + Review and approve inmate timesheets. + Data entry to ensure appropriate documentation of inmate work hours, maintenance requests, etc., as well as tracking for inmate clothing issues/exchange. + Collaboration with service providers for maintenance/upkeep of laundry equipment, as well as chemical orders. + Performs housekeeping and laundry duties during times of facility lockdown. + Responsible for ensuring a safe and enjoyable workplace, including participation in initiatives designed to promote a positive work environment + Administers and interprets vocational and pre-vocational evaluations. + Provides meaningful and productive hands-on classroom training on a vocation or trade. + Develops training objectives, standards, lesson guides, study materials, checklists and other essential items to insure quality training meeting the needs of students/inmates. + Administers testing for students/inmates. + Maintains education files, following departmental regulations. + Adheres to state, facility, and federal guidelines related to student/inmate education programs. Qualifications KNOWLEDGE: + Knowledge of inventory, purchasing, bookkeeping, and preparing various reports + Knowledge of concepts, principles, methods and techniques of a vocational trade. + Knowledge of basic principles of education, psychology, human development and counseling techniques. + Knowledge of job coaching techniques, record keeping and data collection, employment counseling and direction, quality assurance. + Knowledge of quality control standards. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor's Degree (typically in Education) Experience: 0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Education or Instruction) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Vocational Training Technician OR Education & Experience Substitution: 3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Education or Instruction) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Vocational Training Technician Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None Necessary Special Requirements PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: + Lifting/grasping up to 50 pounds without assistance on a regular basis + Walking on cement floors on an occasional to regular basis + Balancing on an occasional basis + Stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching on an occasional basis + Reaching regularly + Standing on an occasional to regular basis + Pushing/pulling regularly + Typing/Repetitive motion on an occasional to regular basis + Talking/hearing frequently + Seeing: the visual ability to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned. + Seeing: the visual ability to operate machinery and perform mechanical or skilled trades duties.
