GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Welding Engineer works in the manufacturing area, reporting directly to the Senior Engineer responsible for the area. The Welding Engineer must implement new products in their area, adhering to the lean manufacturing process. They will be responsible for the development, introduction, and support of the daily operation of all components processed in their area. The Welding Engineer is the first point of contact regarding the calibration of manufactured parts. The Welding Engineer is always responsible for maintaining all tools and machines in optimal working order.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
● Professional Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial, etc.)
● 3 years of experience in a related field.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND CERTIFICATIONS
● Bilingual (80% English and Spanish) both spoken and written
● 3D modeling software
● Six Sigma methodologies
● Knowledge of MIG and TIG welding processes
● Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electricity
● Knowledge of GD&T
● Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing: Material Flow, KanBan, 7 Wastes, FMEA, DFM, SMED, Problem Solving, 5S
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Develop manufacturable parts/components with R&D, respecting team capacity
● Evaluate and publish manufacturing drawing releases
● Build, maintain, and improve VSM
● Evaluate equipment requirements
● Design, tooling, and masking processes for production that meet safety and quality standards.
● Design transfer hooks and transfer carts.
● Define hand tooling requirements
● Create, deliver, and update work instructions
● Create and maintain a spare parts list and create a preventive maintenance program
● Support daily operations
● Provide required information in SAP
● Track theoretical welding wire consumption versus actual consumption to ensure physical inventory
● Provide all required information for PPAP
● Implement lean manufacturing ideology
● Create and maintain a machine workload capacity log
● Create and maintain a machine-related material flow diagram
● Create and maintain an efficient Kanban area
● Perform safety-related activities
● Creation of P3, Pilot, and Dry Run parts.
● Any other duties or responsibilities assigned by the department supervisor.
● Participate in compliance with the QMS (Quality Management System) determined for your role in relation to ISO 9001:2015.
● Comply with safety rules determined according to your role.
● Complete planned Quality and Training training on time.
● Identify and report any quality and compliance issues and support corrective actions.
