Job DescriptionJob Summary:
The Land Surveyor for an Infrastructure Works Project is responsible for performing land and topographic surveys, providing accurate data and measurements for the design and construction phases of the project. This role involves collecting, analyzing, and interpreting survey data, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and project requirements. The Land Surveyor works closely with the project team, engineers, and contractors to ensure proper alignment of infrastructure elements, such as roads, utilities, and drainage systems, with the project’s design specifications.
Key Job Duties:
Site Surveying & Data Collection:Conduct land surveys to determine accurate locations, elevations, boundaries, and dimensions for infrastructure works such as roads, utilities, and drainage systems.Utilize survey instruments (e.g., total stations, GPS, levels) to measure and record land features, contours, and infrastructure elements.Collect data for mapping, site planning, and design, including topographic, boundary, and utility surveys.Survey Analysis & Reporting:Analyze survey data and produce detailed reports, drawings, and maps that accurately represent the topography, boundaries, and features of the site.Prepare sketches and drawings based on survey results, ensuring compliance with project design and legal requirements.Review and interpret data from previous surveys and design documents to ensure consistency and accuracy for ongoing work.Coordinate with Project Team:Work closely with engineers, architects, and contractors to ensure that survey data is incorporated into design plans and construction schedules.Provide input on the feasibility of proposed designs based on survey data, identifying potential challenges related to terrain, land features, or boundaries.Collaborate with the project manager to ensure that survey activities are coordinated with other on-site activities and project timelines.Boundary & Property Line Surveys:Conduct boundary surveys to establish accurate property lines and legal boundaries for the project site.Ensure that all survey work complies with local land use regulations and provides necessary documentation for land ownership or acquisition processes.Work with legal and regulatory authorities to confirm property boundaries and resolve any disputes that may arise.Topographic & Construction Surveys:Perform topographic surveys to identify land elevations, existing infrastructure, and other site features that impact project design.Provide construction surveys to ensure that infrastructure elements, such as roads, utilities, and drainage systems, are properly aligned according to design specifications.Assist with setting up benchmarks and control points for construction activities to ensure proper alignment and elevation.Quality Assurance & Control:Ensure that all survey work is completed with a high level of accuracy, adhering to relevant industry standards, codes, and specifications.Perform quality control checks on survey data, ensuring consistency and reliability in all measurements and calculations.Verify the accuracy of survey data by cross-referencing with existing maps, drawings, and other project documentation.As-Built Surveys & Documentation:Conduct as-built surveys to document the final locations and elevations of constructed infrastructure, ensuring compliance with project plans and specifications.Prepare and update as-built drawings to reflect changes made during the construction phase.Ensure that all survey documentation is accurately archived and available for future reference, including data files, drawings, and reports.Survey Equipment Calibration & Maintenance:Ensure that all survey equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and in good working condition to produce accurate and reliable results.Troubleshoot and repair survey equipment as needed to prevent delays in data collection.Maintain a detailed log of equipment usage, maintenance, and calibration records.Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance:Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations while conducting survey activities on-site.Conduct surveys in a safe manner, ensuring that proper safety protocols are followed, especially in hazardous or high-risk areas.Coordinate with the safety team to address any site-specific hazards related to surveying, such as uneven terrain or proximity to active construction zones.Stakeholder Communication & Reporting:Provide regular updates to project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders on survey progress, results, and any issues encountered during data collection.Assist in preparing reports and presentations for stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of survey findings and recommendations.Address any survey-related concerns from stakeholders and provide necessary clarification to ensure project requirements are met.Survey Data Management:Ensure proper management and organization of survey data, including field notes, calculations, and digital files.Use specialized software (e.g., AutoCAD, GIS tools) to process, analyze, and present survey data in a clear and usable format for the project team.Ensure that all survey data is backed up, secure, and compliant with data protection protocols.QualificationsMinimum 7 years’ experience overall Al Ain experience is advantageous Recognized degree in required field of expertise.Middle East experience preferred.Relevant experience in comparable roads and bridges projects.Additional Information
