Senior Project Manager / Team Lead – Land Engineering | Hybrid | Charlotte, NC
VHB’s Charlotte, NC office is seeking a Senior Project Manager/Team Lead to join our site/civil land development team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the delivery of high-impact projects across private real estate, higher education, healthcare, parks and recreation, and local government sectors. We're looking for a leader who is design-oriented, technically driven, and passionate about mentoring engineers and delivering projects that bring clients back again and again.

Responsibilities
Lead and develop site/civil engineering plans and specifications for projects in institutional, healthcare, higher education, private real estate, parks and recreation, and local government sectorsDeliver high-quality, technically sound projects that foster long-term client relationshipsMentor and teach junior engineers, offering both technical direction and career development supportProvide consistent quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) throughout project lifecyclesManage small to large-scale projects from concept through constructionBuild, guide, and lead a high-performing, multi-disciplinary land development engineering teamIdentify and pursue new project opportunities and assist in proposal preparationPrepare and review land development design and permitting documentsMaintain strong client relations and oversee project financial performanceAttend and lead meetings with clients, agencies, and stakeholders to discuss design and permitting issuesOversee design activities during the Construction Administration phaseSkills and Attributes
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsStrong background in site layout, grading, utility design, and stormwater managementExperience with private real estate, institutional, and local government projectsProven leadership, coaching, and mentoring skillsCritical thinker with strong multitasking abilitiesCollaborative, team-oriented mindset with strong attention to detailSelf-motivated and passionate about delivering outstanding resultsQualifications
BS in Civil Engineering or a related field required; Master’s degree preferredPE (Professional Engineer) licensure in North Carolina required8 – 11+ years of experience in site/civil engineering design, project management, and team leadershipRelevant experience with higher education, healthcare, parks and recreation, and/or local government sectorsProficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Project, and MS Office SuiteExperience with GIS systems is a plusWe are VHB!
