This supervisory position leads the Land Development Compliance work group, which is responsible for the review of building permits to ensure compliance with the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). This workgroup reviews subdivision plats and other administrative approvals authorized via the UDO. This work group is also responsible for site compliance inspections to be completed upon the completion of development projects in Durham. The purpose of these inspections is to ensure the development was constructed in a manner that complies with approved site plans or preliminary plats.
Duties/Responsibilities
+ Manages assigned planning function(s); supervises staff, including assigning, and evaluating work, and conducting coaching and training; assists with developing policies and procedures; oversees programs, projects, processes, and operations; plans and implements process and technology improvements; performs quality control duties; convenes and conducts meetings; and ensures compliance with applicable regulations, policies, standards, and procedures.
+ Coordinates with other various departments associated with the Development Review Process, this includes site plans, subdivision plats, construction drawings and building permits.
+ Coordinate and manage staff responsible for performing site inspections during construction to ensure compliance with the UDO, and approved plans. This also includes ensuring proper documentation is provided of inspections, and coordination during the certificate of occupancy process.
+ Compiles data and conducts studies, reports and recommendations to senior management, community groups, public officials, or others as necessary; supervises the maintenance of records, websites, calendars, and databases; and reviews work and the work of others for accuracy and completeness.?
+ This position will coordinate with Planning & Development Department management team on developing plans, and policies to direct Durham’s vision for equitable, inclusive, and high-quality growth.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
+ Master’s degree in planning, engineering, or in a directly related field OR equivalent experience.
+ Three years of professional planning experience in area of assignment.
+ Two years of supervisory experience.
