Lactation Consultant RN PRN
**Lactation Consultant RN Registered Nurse** **PRN** + **Work location:** Texas Health Southwest, 6100 Harris Parkway, Fort Worth, TX 76132 + Mother friendly designated, a Texas 10-Step designated, and a Magnet designated facility + **Work hours:** PRN, Minimum of 1 shift every other week, 8-hour shifts, 8:30AM-5:00PM, as well as filling in as needed to cover **Maternal/Newborn Department highlights:** · Self-Scheduling that helps with work/life balance as well as opportunities for educational and career growth · Our team is like a family with a newly renovated Mother/Baby, couplet care unit with 26-beds and an expanded 16-bed NICU **Here’s What You Need** · Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program **OR** Nursing Diploma · BSN is preferred · One-year (1) Year Experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) or completion of an RN residency program, or a THR residency program Required · One year of Lactation or Neonatal ICU/NICU RN experience **strongly preferred** · BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required · NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days · CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days Required · IBCLC – International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant within 2 Years Required ( **strongly prefer certification upon hire** ) · A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment. **What You Will Do** * Both inpatient and outpatient services – working with both Maternal/Newborn and NICU patients * Functions as an expert resource on breastfeeding issues for patients, families, community, staff, and physicians * Serves as a clinical expert for lactation issues based on evidence * Produces documentation that initiates, follows and revises patient’s plan of care * Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to improve care processes that promote continuity of care * Reviews patient medications for potential complications associated with breastfeeding. * Assesses outpatients for symptoms of jaundice and breastfeeding problems * Participates in breast pump rental and retail sales within the Breastfeeding Resource Center **Additional perks of being a Texas Health Nurse** · Benefits include 401k, free parking and discounts in the cafeteria. · Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice. · Strong Unit Based Council (UBC). · A supportive, team environment with outstanding opportunities for growth. · Explore our Texas Health careers site (https://jobs.texashealth.org/) for info like Benefits (https://jobs.texashealth.org/benefits) , Job Listings by Category (https://jobs.texashealth.org/professions) , recent Awards (https://jobs.texashealth.org/awards) we’ve won and more. **_Do you still have questions or concerns?_** Feel free to email your questions to recruitment@texashealth.org .
