Summary About the position: This position is located at the Lodging Facility on RAF Lakenheath. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on days, evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Scheduled hours will be 35-40 per week with a minimum guarantee of 35 hours per week. Responsibilities Collects soiled linen and makes accurate count of linen sent to the base linen exchange. Bundles and prepares soiled linens. Unloads bundled clean linen, makes accurate count and delivers and stocks linen at several lodging facilities. Transports linen via motor vehicle to/from linen exchange and lodging facilities. Performs operator maintenance, such as checking fluid levels, air pressure in tires, cleaning/washing vehicle. Operates hand tools and simple power equipment such as hand lawnmowers, walking-type power mowers, hand-saws, hatchets and clippers lo perform tasks such as mowing lawns, clearing small trees and bushes and removing snow. May use a shovel or dig ditches and tranches where soil is not compacted and grading and sloping is not required, or to fill holes, level bumps and low places or remove coals, ash, snow, dirt. Manual tasks such as moving, arranging, collecting and cleaning equipment and materials. Moves and arranges furniture, as directed. May collect and empty garbage and trash, and wash and wax cars and trucks by hand or using a powered buffer. Knowledge of basic hand tools such as hand-saws, hatchets, clippers. Must have skill in maneuvering & driving vehicles up to 10,000 pounds. Must be able to load & arrange cargo. Must be able to read & follow simple signs & specific written and/or oral instructions involving duties with several distinct tasks or steps. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
