About the role

The position entails supporting the R&D Flavourist and Scientist based in Bandung, with responsibilities including ingredient weighing, process development, application work, and sample preparation to drive pipeline growth. Additionally, the role involves daily maintenance of the laboratory to ensure it operates at the standards expected of industry-class technical facilities. A hands-on approach is essential.

 

Key responsibilities Provide support to the Flavourist and Scientist by weighing ingredients, dispatching samples, preparing and participating in tastings, and maintaining a well-organized library of samples and raw materials. Support Flavourist and Scientist with lab and pilot trials, tests and insights Manage inventory of raw materials and flavours, ensuring all items are within shelf life, properly labeled, and regularly replenished across designated hubs. Maintain cleanliness and order in the laboratory, ensuring equipment and consumables are in good working condition. Adhere to HACCP guidelines and ensure proper use of safety equipment within the lab environment. Participate in sensory panels and evaluations of developmental samples to support innovation and quality standards. Evaluate new flavour ingredients and technologies in simple applications to aid the team in creating and optimizing distinctive taste solutions. Collaborate with senior team members on feasibility studies, pipeline projects, and raw material-related issues. Working with alongside a senior member of the team, conducts basic research for the improvement of existing products and the development of new products, outlining procedures and specifications. Collaborate with cross functional teams including R&D technologists, plant/production, sampling/quality, shipping/receiving, project managers, application staff, and others working in the same project. Master company software and systems for executing day-to-day Taste R&D lab work.

 

Qualifications and skills Diploma in Food Science or a related discipline Strong business-level communication skills Familiarity with computer systems and terminal operations Strong organizational and data analysis capabilities Demonstrated scientific curiosity and eagerness to explore new concepts Ability to taste and smell flavour ingredients, finished flavours, and food products as part of sensory evaluation
