\nJob Summary
\nThe Supervisor of Lab oversees routine lab activities. This ensures adequate staffing and timely, quality-standard tests. Assists with hiring, training, evaluations, and payroll.
\nEssential Functions of the Role
\n\nSupervises the work of assigned subordinates in testing phases. Performs all delegated functions as defined by the facility CLIA Director.\nPrepares schedules, coordinates job assignments, and monitors personnel. Assists in selecting, orienting, training, assigning, evaluating, disciplining, and discharging employees.\nAssists in the development of policies and procedures related to the laboratory, staffing, and scheduling.\nCommunicates and escalates staffing issues or other concerns to management in a timely manner.\nMonitors the inventory system to ensure that necessary supplies are available as needed and in the proper quantity.\nAssists with implementing quality assurance programs and maintains standards and records that document compliance with regulatory agencies.\nAssists with reviewing quality control, proficiency testing, instrument maintenance, and quality assurance records, and any corrective actions.\nAssists with the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets.\n\nKey Success Factors
\n\nKnowledge of laboratory regulations, protocols and procedures.\nStatistical and critical thinking abilities.\nAbility to comprehend and communicate instructions.\nAbility to perform laboratory protocols and procedures.\nKnowledge of safety and infection control standards.\nAbility to work in a team environment.\nAbility to make tactical judgments on allocating and directing supervised employees' work using established guidelines, policies, or procedures.\nAbility to make effective hiring and termination recommendations.\nAbility to train, and evaluate performance of supervised staff.\nGeneral computer skills include Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.\n\nBelonging Statement
