The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Division of Rheumatology is seeking to hire a Laboratory Specialist. Responsibilities will include cellular and molecular immunology techniques, mouse colony maintenance, and general lab maintenance. The candidate will also be responsible fortraining and providing technical assistance to students and fellows, as well as ordering lab supplies and maintaining a general laboratory inventory. Previous experience in the techniques listed, post B.S. degree, is desirable.

Peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) purification from human blood samples. Isolation of mouse spleen and lymph nodes. T-cell subsets purification and culture from PBMC and spleen/LN. Maintenance of primary cell culture and experiments related to T cell phenotype and function. Preparation of tissue culture media and maintenance of cell bank. Perform fluorescence activated cell sorter analysis of cell surface and intracellular molecules, cell proliferation assays and ELISA.
