**Job Summary**
Responsible for performing a wide variety of tasks related to laboratory operations and animal husbandry in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliant laboratory setting. Tasks may include but are not limited to management of laboratory materials, operation of autoclave and cagewash, maintaining proper disposition of biohazard materials and chemicals, assist in safety and compliance activities in laboratory facilities, assist in equipment programs, coordinate with laboratory personnel and external vendors to support laboratory activities, and perform routine and moderately complex animal husbandry duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Perform autoclave and cagewash runs in support of laboratory operations including but not limited to cage parts, animal enrichment devices, and reagents
+ Collaborate with laboratory personnel and external vendors to ensure proper disposition of biohazard materials and chemicals; sterilize and discard used lab materials as required; assist with packing and transfer of biohazard materials
+ Clidox deactivation
+ Prepare dirty bedding and decontaminate dirty cages in a biological safety cabinet (BSC) for disposal
+ Perform physical environment cleanliness and upkeep and maintain recordkeeping to GMP standards and/or Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
+ Collaborate with different function groups to coordinate activities related to laboratory supplies, inventory management, and orders of critical materials
+ Regularly take inventory of and restock laboratory supplies, reagents, and critical components to support laboratory testing
+ Interact and coordinate with IVB personnel to assure that lab supplies are received in timely manner and alternative options provided as needed
+ Manage deliveries
+ Perform goods receipts in SAP for animal and supply orders
+ Work with management to create, implement and maintain disposable cage inventory system
+ Interact with management to ensure appropriate level of cage supplies are available for laboratory use
+ Identify and implement improvement opportunities pertaining to supplies inventory management
+ Assist and participate in laboratory equipment preventative maintenance programs
+ Assist and participate in safety and lab compliance initiatives and implement at the site
+ Train on all basic procedures, processes, and documentation pertaining to Laboratory Operations and the site as assigned
+ Provide a support function to address unexpected problems at short notice
+ Maintain exact and detailed documentation appropriate to the function, including training records
+ Conduct clinical observations to ensure health of animals and perform animal husbandry duties
+ Operate equipment and use supplies according to safety guidelines
+ Perform all other related duties as assigned
**Job Qualifications**
+ _Education:_ High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
+ Experience: 1 to 3 years related experience in a laboratory preferred.
+ An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
+ _Certification/Licensure:_ None
+ _Other:_ Able to work independently under minimal supervision. Excellent verbal, written communication, and organizational skills. Demonstrated independent problem-solving abilities. Proficient with computers. Ability to interact appropriately with all levels of employees. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team. Ability to handle stress effectively and adapt to change.
The pay for this position is $24.00 per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
