Job Title Laboratory Manager - Gaylord-Harden Lab Agency Texas A&M University Department Psychology Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location College Station, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description Here’s a Glimpse of the Job The Laboratory Manager for the Youth Rising Lab oversees daily operations of a large and active psychological laboratory. In addition to overseeing day-to-day lab operations, the responsibilities for the position include coordinating community-based research activities, managing and training lab personnel, and providing assistance with dissemination of research findings. This work supports the research mission of the university by increasing the quantity and quality of work done in the laboratory, as well as the educational mission of the university by providing high quality training and oversight of undergraduate students participating in the laboratory as a research experience. Opportunities to Contribute + Plans lab events and meetings. + Develops and updates lab operating procedures and manages IRB protocols to ensure compliance with research standards. + Manages budgeting and financial oversight of grants and research accounts and oversees inventory and purchasing of lab equipment. + Manages the lab’s website and social media outreach to enhance visibility and engagement. + Assists in designing and planning research studies. + Coordinate and monitor recruitment and scheduling of participants. + Communicates with research partners (community-based agencies and school staff) and community advisory boards to support collaboration and engagement. + Develop and manage research participant databases. + Coordinates, trains, evaluates, and collaborates with graduate research assistants, postdoctoral research associates, undergraduate and postbaccalaureate research assistants, as well as community-based research staff. + Provides assistance with data analysis, conference presentations, and scientific manuscripts. Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience. + Five years of related experience in laboratory management + Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving (i.e., participant recruitment and data collection) and/or flying on commercial airlines (i.e., to attend conferences) + Ability to move and set up recruitment equipment/materials (e.g., folding tables, chairs) A well-qualified candidate for this position will also possess: + A bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related discipline. + At least 2 years of research experience in a clinical or developmental psychology lab. + Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently. + Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. + Strong written and verbal communication skills, including efficiency in email correspondence. + Experience with statistical software (e.g., SPSS and/or R). + Experience with office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite). + Working knowledge of image and/or video design and editing (e.g., Photoshop, + Canva). + Commitment to supporting a collaborative team environment. + Commitment to working with individuals exposed to trauma. Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.
