**Laboratory Manager**
The Laboratory Operations Manager will support the daily operations and processes of the Bayer Research and Innovation Center (BRIC) laboratories and vivarium including managing the space, all associated equipment, 24/7 alarm responses, and all third-party vendors.
**YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSBILITIES**
The primary responsibilities of the Laboratory Manager are to:
+ Safety and compliance - Be a leader and a champion for safety. Work cross-functionally to ensure compliance with SH&E policies and procedures. Participate in safety monitoring and audits. Ensure safety training and a safe working environment for all employees. Support and ensure compliance with biohazard/hazardous waste handling and labeling policies and procedures. Serve as a member of the Institutional Biosafety Committee;
+ Operational Support - Manage and oversee support functions including 24/7 alarm response, glass wash, freezer inventory, chemical inventory, consumables inventory, lab clean-up, waste disposal, shipping, etc. Manage and oversee external service contractors, ensuring safety compliance, and are performing in accordance with their Master Service Agreement. Perform other business-related duties as assigned.;
+ Asset Management - Manage the scientific equipment asset management process. Coordinate new device purchases, aligning with budget allocations. Assist in coordinating preventative maintenance and other contracts where appropriate and arranging preventative and reactive work orders;
+ Business Operations - Manage laboratory and vivarium-related operating expenses, including procurement, training, licenses, and consulting fees. Assist with organization and administration of documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures;
+ Leadership - Conduct regular team meetings to proactively identify and address challenges. Represent and advocate for laboratory and vivarium concerns to senior management.
**WHO YOU ARE**
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree;
+ Excellent communication skills: written composition, oral, and interpersonal;
+ Exceptional attention to detail, follow-through and interpersonal skills;
+ Strong knowledge of software for office operations including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
+ May need to lift and move laboratory supplies and small equipment;
+ Energetic and enthusiastic; responding constructively to challenging new ideas and inputs;
+ Able to quickly learn complex business processes and master various databases and IT tools;
+ Communicate effectively with many other departments and peer groups, as well as external customers/ vendors;
+ Strong cooperative team player, ability to be flexible and adapt to a changing environment.
Preferred qualifications:
+ Bachelor degree and at least 5 years of experience with lab and facilities operations.
Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $96,633.60 - $144,950.40. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include healthcare, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.
This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, skills, prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
