We’re looking for a Laboratory Leader to join our team at our Gillette manufacturing facility in Reading.  


As Laboratory Leader you will be responsible for leading the Laboratory Team, driving continuous improvement through loss elimination, problem solving and growing the capability of the Lab Team. You will be accountable for helping to ensure our products, processes and standards meet regulatory and Good Manufacturing Practice requirements as well as the commercial expectations of the business. 


Important Responsibilities on a day-to-day level:

Career and performance management of the Laboratory Team (consisting of 6 Lab Analysts)

Overall ownership of the training program of the Lab Team and ensuring a positive onboarding experience for new hires

Ensuring all corporate and regulatory requirements are met in the Analytical Lab with regards to Safety, Quality and Stewardship

Fostering a winning culture in the Team by increasing release reliability and improving the health of the Laboratory Management System 

Playing a crucial role in driving zero-loss mentality by owning the lab score card and lead gap analysis on any targets not being met

Leading and improving the daily direction setting in the Laboratory to ensure the team are clear on their roles and responsibilities

Job Qualifications

What we are looking for:

Leadership:  The successful candidate demonstrates leadership and people management skills with the ability to lead cultural change. We are looking for positivity, "can-do" attitude as well as a passion for getting things done.

Technical Mastery:  Analytical expertise and good understanding of Laboratory GMP practices are essential. Existing knowledge of gas chromatography is desirable. The successful candidate has experience working in a Lab environment or Quality Assurance (QA) organization.

Communication: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal are desirable. The successful candidate can communicate well internally and externally across different levels of the organization. This includes the ability to escalate issues when needed to remove barriers.

Collaborative Relationships: Strong collaboration skills are critical to support the Operations and other Departments on site. The successful candidate demonstrates the ability to network and leverage existing analytical knowledge, expertise and best practices across P&G.

Problem-Solving + Loss Elimination:  The successful candidate has a strong “zero loss” mentality and takes full ownership of losses in the Lab to drive testing reliability.  We are looking for a candidate with the ability to coach the Lab Team during investigations, trouble-shooting issues with Lab instruments and root causing out-of-spec results.

Systems:  A working knowledge of Quality systems which are used regularly as part of the Lab work (such as SAP, ENOVIA, VEEVA, Chromeleon, NEXUS LIMS or Proficy Quality) is desirable though not essential as on the job training will be provided.
