Job Description:

The Laboratory Assistant plays a crucial role in the pre-analytical and post-analytical phases of testing. One will be responsible for receiving and logging incoming samples, preparing them for laboratory analysis, and managing sample storage and disposal. This position offers a unique opportunity to start or grow a career in a laboratory setting.

Responsibilities:

Receive samples from couriers and initiate the tracking process.Verify sample integrity, inspect for damage, and prepare for processing.Utilize multiple computer software systems for sample management.Ensure sample names match requisitions.Handle various sample types, primarily urine, but also blood, serum, plasma, and body fluids.Create and apply labels to samples after data entry.Occasionally aliquot samples, centrifuge, or freeze as necessary.Manage the workflow and storage of samples in refrigerators and freezers after specified time periods.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

High School Diploma (preference for a Bachelor's in Science Degree).Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Previous lab experience or related fields such as banking, customer service, or serving is beneficial.Desire for career advancement within the laboratory setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.50 - $18.15/hr.
