As a member of our Laboratory team, you will perform diagnostic and consultative services that underpin our world-class care. From operating complex testing equipment to performing routine laboratory tasks, your work will contribute to over 20 million tests annually, supporting care for a growing patient population. In this role, you will process samples, perform various laboratory procedures, conduct waived laboratory testing and help manage workflow within the lab. The laboratory team at Tradition Hospital is a small, cohesive unit that collaborates closely to achieve excellence and provides extensive on-site training and continuing education opportunities.

This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working various shifts between 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. or 12:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. with weekend requirements. This position will rotate between facilities.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Perform various laboratory procedures.  

Assist with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing, transporting and storing specimens.  

Operate laboratory equipment and perform routine instrument maintenance, troubleshooting and minor repairs.  

Perform quality assurance activities.  

Maintain adequate stock of supplies and manage the inventory by transporting and distributing supplies.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

High School Diploma or GED 

Completion of three months of on-the-job training to learn department laboratory procedures, instrumentation and Cleveland Clinic policies 


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

Previous experience working in a laboratory setting

Physical Requirements:

Requires manual dexterity and visual acuity when handling specimens and utilizing instrumentation.

Ability to safely handle potentially infectious patient specimens, carcinogenic substances, odorous and other hazardous materials to which they may be exposed.

Requires frequent sitting or standing.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
