Be apart of something great! **Position Highlights** **Position Summary:** The Laboratory Assistant specializes in the pre-analytic functions of the clinical laboratory, and performs various testing and processing procedures on patient specimens to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Test performance and reporting is defined as specified by CLIA. Job duties include organizing specimen collection requests, specimen transport, specimen processing, testing dispersal, point-of-care testing procedures, and other pre-analytic functions following established standards and practices. Utilizes scientific principles as well as technical, procedural, and problem-solving aptitudes for day-to-day laboratory technical operations. The Laboratory Assistant supports and assists at the direction of the Medical Laboratory Scientist. **Education/Experience:** High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. **Licensure/Certification:** Certification as a Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) or Phlebotomist Technician (PBT) from the ASCP preferred.
