We have a Global Centre of Excellence for Medical Devices based in Witney, Oxfordshire. The site manufactures significant volumes of test strips annually and has also been instrumental in the research, development and manufacture of the next generation FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System, launched in September 2014.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Analyst to join our Testing and Analytical Team in the role of Laboratory Analyst I at our Witney site in West Oxfordshire. In this role you will conduct analytical testing of finished goods and in-process samples in a GMP environment.
Key responsibilities include:
Conducting HPLC analytical chemistry testing to support manufacturingUtilising new or existing analytical test methods to determine quantity, quality and purity of compounds.Using scientific education and/or experiences to generate results in accordance with GMP/procedural requirements and scientific principle.Interpreting data output to determine conformance with product specificationsBased upon GMP/procedural knowledge, recognise exception events report to their supervisor.Effectively perform a multitude of laboratory techniques in a fast-paced environment, with ability to adjust to unforeseen technical or logistical obstacles to accomplish assignments.Support validations of new test methods introduced into the analytical test laboratoryUnderstand, implement, and maintain GMP with respect to laboratory records, procedures, and systems in accordance with procedural requirements.Prepare laboratory solutions, reagents, and standards as required in compliance with procedures and laboratory GMP.Complete daily checks on equipment as required, such as balances and pH meters.To be successful, you will have a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline with a preference for those with a degree in the chemical sciences. Previous work experience of analytical chemistry methods is advantageous but not essential. The ideal candidate will have a basic knowledge of general technical concepts and practices and a general understanding of product or systems fundamentals in a laboratory environment and will perform this job in a quality system environment. You should have excellent attention to detail skills, a logical and methodical approach to problem solving, the ability to prioritise workload as required by your supervisor with the flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances or new demands. You enjoy working in a cross-functional team, being able to collaborate with colleagues in R&D, QA and Operations.
