ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital offers a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services in southern Michigan and Ohio. A national leader in treatment of heart attack, congestive heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care, ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital is also a pacesetter in Michigan for obstetrics, emergency care, intensive care, controlling infections and organ donation. 

Under supervision and according to established policies and procedures and detailed instructions, performs a variety of duties such as: obtaining venous blood specimens, housekeeping tasks involved in maintaining the laboratory in a clean and orderly condition, distributing supplies and maintaining inventory, and utilizing in-house computer system and other computers within department.

ACCOUNTABILITIES 

Collects blood samples from neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients in the laboratory outpatient service area, laboratory area, nursing floors, or in the emergency room. Labels specimens and transports them to the laboratory for testing. Prepares 24-hour urine specimens as needed. Maintains inventory of supplies and notifies director or office supervisor when supplies are needed; reorders supplies when instructed by director; distributes to designated areas. Assists in charting and filing laboratory slips, answers the telephone, and assists in maintaining the laboratory in a clean and orderly condition. Utilizes hospital in-house computer system and other computers within department. Always follows standard precautions.
