Labor & Employment Attorney
Description A well-known firm in the Valley is looking for a skilled Labor & Employment Attorney to join the dynamic legal team in Westlake Village, California. In this role, you will have the opportunity to represent public safety officers and associations in a variety of employment law matters, including collective bargaining, and administrative proceedings. This position offers a hybrid work environment (and days on-site are flexible), requiring occasional travel to meet with clients and attend appearances. Responsibilities: • Represent public safety officers and associations in employment law cases, including litigation related to discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour disputes, and more. • Conduct thorough legal research and factual investigations to develop effective case strategies. • Draft and review legal documents such as pleadings, discovery responses, and employment-related demand letters. • Take and defend depositions, and conduct investigatory interviews to gather critical case information. • Negotiate settlement agreements and prepare for arbitration or trial proceedings. • Provide advisory support on collective bargaining agreements and labor negotiations. • Manage a caseload independently while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards. • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to establish trust and credibility. • Travel as needed to client sites and public entities represented by the firm. ^ Pay is contingent upon the experience above. For the right individual, this Labor & Employment Attorney could sit in San Diego or Northern Orange County; the firm has satellite offices here. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of civil litigation experience, with some focus on employment law. • Active license to practice law in California. • Strong skills in drafting motions, conducting depositions, and handling litigation processes. • Familiarity with California labor laws and employment practices. • Willingness to represent public officers such as police and fire department personnel. • Ability to manage a caseload independently while collaborating with team members.
