Hiring Part-Time Seasonal Lab Technicians! This is an opportunity to work with a great company and gain industry lab experience if you are currently in school or recently gradguated! Description To conduct residue sampling, testing, reporting, and maintenance functions necessary to operate the residue program at our customer site lab. To maintain the laboratory and laboratory equipment. Major Responsibility Area #1: FUNGICIDE RESIDUE ANALYSIS & REPORTING • All fruit and liquid residue samples are accurately collected from the packing house as scheduled. • Fruit and solution residue analyses are conducted accurately and on time, following the appropriate procedures. • Results are prepared and routed per procedure. • Glassware and equipment is washed and readied for the next sampling period. • Any changes to procedures and schedules are discussed with management prior to being implemented. • Results from analyses, and any other requested data, are entered into an electronic notebook on a daily basis. • Standard curves and accuracy checks for residue procedures are completed as scheduled. • Routine maintenance is conducted on the gas chromatograph and other equipment per procedure and schedule. • Problems with equipment, methods, or operations are quickly communicated to management, and assistance is provided to implement solutions. • Lines of communication (phone, e-mail, posted messages) are tended to frequently, and messages returned promptly. Major Responsibility Area #2: LABORATORY MAINTENANCE & SUPPORT • Reagents and standards are stocked and their integrity is carefully maintained. • Supplies are kept stocked. Levels are regularly monitored, and the need for additional supplies is communicated in a timely manner. • The lab is kept clean and orderly. • Lab equipment is maintained in proper working condition, and any issues are promptly communicated. Major Responsibility Area #3: Employee Health & Safety • All required PPE is worn for sampling and outside of the lab duties. • All waste is disposed of as instructed. • The lab site and equipment are secured as requested to prevent theft or unauthorized access. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field preferred; reasonable progress toward such degree mandatory. + Good basic laboratory skills (pipetting, measuring techniques, reagent preparation, etc.) and comfortable working with chemicals + Experience in a chemistry lab through classwork or a job preferred + A basic understanding of GC use and maintenance would be highly valued + Must have computer skills (able to use e-mail, Microsoft Word & Excel) + Should be comfortable multi-tasking + Pays attention to detail + Conscientious and self motivated; able to work without direct supervision + Comfortable working alone + Must be reliable and have reliable transportation to job site + Must be safety conscious + Must be able to read and adhere to procedures and policies Part Time 16-32 hours/week! Can be flexible with schedule! Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.50/hr.
