Job Title: Lab Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Lab Technician to join a dynamic team in a food chemistry lab. This role involves preparing samples, supporting chemists, and conducting various tests including proximate, protein, fat, and moisture testing. You will also be responsible for extraction and centrifuging processes.

ResponsibilitiesPrepare samples for testing.Support chemists in daily laboratory tasks.Conduct proximate testing to analyze basic components of food.Perform protein, fat, and moisture content tests.Execute extraction and centrifuging procedures.Ensure accuracy and precision in all testing and reporting.Essential SkillsExperience in a production environment.Strong decision-making skills.Proficiency with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).Attention to detail.Ability to follow standard operating procedures and apply critical thinking.Knowledge in chemistry and sample preparation.Additional Skills & QualificationsDegree in Science or at least 1 year of experience in a lab setting.Work Environment

The work will take place in a food chemistry lab focused on testing nutritional values, contamination, and quality of imported and exported goods. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with potential for flexibility based on business needs following a 3-week intensive training. You will have the opportunity to work with new instrumentation and methods, fostering growth into a high-level scientist or technologist.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of NEW ORLEANS, LA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
