Job Description
The lab technician will conduct routine aquatic toxicology laboratory tests and experiments following established protocols. This role involves culturing and maintaining stocks of test organisms, maintaining and sterilizing glassware, and analyzing samples and data to ensure accurate results. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, performing quality control checks, and documenting all findings while collaborating with team members.
ResponsibilitiesConduct routine aquatic toxicology laboratory tests and experiments following established protocols.Culture and maintain stocks of test organisms.Maintain, wash, and sterilize glassware used in culturing and testing.Analyze samples and data to ensure accurate results.Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring it is clean, calibrated, and functioning properly.Perform quality control checks to ensure compliance with accreditation standards.Document all findings and maintain accurate records of experiments and results.Collaborate with team members.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in an environmental biology discipline.Strong attention to detail.Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.Proficiency in Chemistry, Quality Control, Laboratory procedures, Biology, Wet Chemistry, QC, and Titration.Additional Skills & QualificationsBS in Chemistry or Biology.Experience with PH, DO and Conductivity meters.Experience in Alkalinity and hardness titrations.Knowledge of Ammonia and Chlorine measurements.Work Environment
The work environment is a laboratory setting where the technician will use various technologies and equipment to conduct experiments and maintain standards. The lab requires cleanliness and adherence to safety protocols.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
