Job Description
The role of a lab technician is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of laboratory functions. The position involves maintaining laboratory and supply storage areas, as well as handling equipment, instruments, and supplies. The lab technician is expected to employ general lab methods, techniques, equipment, and instrumentation while adhering to quality assurance programs and standard operating procedures.
ResponsibilitiesRetrieve samples from Sample Control for analysis.Perform sample preparation tasks including aliquoting samples, spiking and tracing samples, preparing reagents, bottling samples, and setting up concentrations, separation, sonication, and liquid racks.Resolve discrepancies and anomalies to ensure proper sample labeling.Prepare general lab paperwork including recording analysis results, tracking samples, bench sheets, and lab logbooks.Wash lab glassware to prepare for the next day's samples and stock lab supplies.Essential SkillsProficiency in laboratory operations and sample preparation.Understanding of biology and chemistry principles.High school diploma is required.Additional Skills & QualificationsAn Associate's degree is advantageous.Consistent job tenure of at least one year.For new graduates, achievements in school such as extracurriculars, internships, research, or jobs are desirable.Success has been observed in individuals with a food service background.Work Environment
The work environment is a microbiology food testing lab. The role operates Monday through Friday from 12:00 pm to 8:30 pm, with additional overtime as needed. The lab is open seven days a week and primarily serves food manufacturers.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $15.00 - $17.00/hr.
