We are seeking a dedicated Lab Technician to perform daily evaluations and approvals of finished products, process quality checks, and basic microbiological testing. This role requires responsible handling of equipment calibration, troubleshooting, and calculation of dilutions. The Lab Technician will conduct ingredient inspections, packaging inspections, inventory control, and maintain sample archives. Laboratory tests will include solvent extraction, sieving, pH, protein, fiber, fat, ash, and microbiological plating, along with testing of all raw ingredients and finished packaged products. Accurate recording of test results and effective communication with operating departments and management are crucial. The role also involves performing in-process quality checks, collecting test samples, troubleshooting equipment, and performing mechanical maintenance. A commitment to maintaining a clean and safe laboratory environment is essential.
Responsibilities
+ Perform daily evaluation and approval of finished products and process quality checks.
+ Conduct basic microbiological testing.
+ Calibrate equipment, troubleshoot issues, and calculate dilutions.
+ Inspect ingredients and packaging, manage inventory, and maintain sample archives.
+ Conduct laboratory tests including solvent extraction, sieving, pH, protein, fiber, fat, ash, and microbiological plating.
+ Test raw ingredients and finished packaged products.
+ Record test results and communicate with operating departments and management.
+ Perform in-process quality checks and collect test samples.
+ Troubleshoot equipment and perform mechanical maintenance.
+ Maintain a clean and safe laboratory work environment.
Essential Skills
+ 0-2 years of laboratory experience.
+ Proficiency in basic wet chemistry.
+ Background in food manufacturing.
+ Scientific-minded with a degree in chemistry or biology.
+ Experience in lab testing and sample testing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Desire to work in a food facility.
+ Manufacturing background is a plus.
Work Environment
You will work within a small team of 3-5 people in a blue-collar work environment. The role involves conducting basic testing and working primarily in the masa lab, with some solo work in the main lab. The team includes control operators nearby for easy communication regarding process changes. The position offers both day and night shifts, working from 7 am to 7 pm or 7 pm to 7 am on a rotating schedule. Initial training will take place over the first four weeks during day shifts. This opportunity provides valuable lab and testing skills that can help advance your career beyond the production floor.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
