Lab Technician – 2nd Shift (2-3 month contract)
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Lab Technician with experience in the food, pharmaceutical, or chemical industry. This role is based in a production environment and involves hands-on analytical testing, including titrations, FFA, FTIR, moisture analysis, and color testing. Spanish language skills are a plus, and adherence to GMP and safety standards is essential.
Main Responsibilities
+ Perform physical and chemical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using organoleptic, visual, titration, and instrumental methods.
+ Operate lab equipment including FTIR, moisture analyzers, colorimeters, refractometers, and chromatographs.
+ Prepare chemical solutions and maintain analysis databases, logs, and certificates of analysis.
+ Conduct microbiological sampling and testing, either in-house or via external labs.
+ Maintain lab cleanliness and chemical inventory, ensuring safe storage and disposal.
+ Follow all lab safety protocols including PPE usage and GMP standards (no long nails, jewelry, or false eyelashes).
+ Support general lab upkeep and assist with other duties as needed.
Schedule & Training
+ Regular hours:2:00 PM – 10:00 PM, with flexibility for Saturday morning shifts (6:00 AM – 2:00 PM).
+ Initial training will be conducted on first shift alongside the lead technician.
Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or GED required; equivalent experience considered.
+ 2–3 years of lab experience in oils & fats, food processing, pharma, or grain milling preferred.
+ Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently.
+ Familiarity with GMP, safety rules, and ERP systems (SAP preferred).
+ Must provide own safety shoes; hair nets and other PPE will be supplied.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
