You Are:
UST is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Lab Technician to support hardware bring-up, configuration, and maintenance activities in a dynamic lab environment. This role is hands-on and requires experience with platform assembly, OS installation, and general lab operations.
The opportunity:
· Assemble and disassemble servers, desktops, and related hardware components
· Install and configure operating systems (Windows/Linux) and necessary drivers
· Perform basic debugging and system bring-up under supervision
· Manage cabling, rack mounting, and physical organization of lab assets
· Support hardware swaps such as CPUs, memory, SSDs, and debug cards
· Maintain inventory tracking and log lab activities using tools like Excel or ServiceNow
· Ensure adherence to ESD and lab safety standards
· Participate in platform testing, power-on verification, and basic triage
· Assist engineering teams with setup readiness, system maintenance, and test environment support

What you need:
· Good understanding of computer hardware (motherboards, CPUs, RAM, storage devices)
· Basic familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems
· Hands-on experience with lab tools and ESD practices
· Strong documentation and communication skills
· Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures
· Desired Skills
· Prior experience working in an R&D or validation lab environment
· Familiarity with ticketing tools such as ServiceNow or Jira
· Experience with inventory management systems
· Qualifications
· Diploma or associate degree in Electronics, Computer Hardware, or a related field
· 2-4 years of experience in lab support, system assembly, or hardware maintenance
Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.
Role Location: California
Compensation Range: $40,000-$60,000
Benefits
Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as the following Company-paid Employee Only benefits: basic life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, and short- and long-term disability benefits. Regular employees may purchase additional voluntary short-term disability benefits, and participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA) as well as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for healthcare, dependent child care, and/or commuting expenses as allowable under IRS guidelines. Benefits offerings vary in Puerto Rico.

All US employees who work in a state or locality with more generous paid sick leave benefits than specified here will receive the benefit of those sick leave laws.
