**About Us** **Location: Greater Austin Region** **Department: Clinic Float** **Schedule: Full Time (Mon-Fri 7:30a-4:30p, 8a-5p or 9a-6p shifts)** **The GAR Clinic Float team is a diverse team that floats throughout the Greater Austin Region. Our lab techs work in large outpatient labs, single lab tech clinics, and other various clinic lab settings. This team member must be willing to travel, have reliable transportation and be flexible and willing to jump in where needed. Prior phlebotomy experience is required but we will take a new lab tech who has completed a phlebotomy program recently. Note: Benefits may vary based on position type and/or level **Job Summary** The Lab Tech 1 performs routine lab duties using established protocols and procedures under supervision. Specific duties may vary by assigned area. **Essential Functions of the Role** + Conducts routine laboratory procedures where the range of possible errors is limited. + Sorts, labels and records patient specimens. Set up specimen, material and equipment in preparation for Medical Technologist to perform test. + Operates centrifuge, simplex timers, cell washer and other Laboratory equipment in completing assigned duties. + Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies. + Maintains effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers. + Participates in laboratory projects and educational activities. **Key Success Factors** + Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions. + Skill in the use of computers and related software applications. + Knowledge of safety and infection control standards. + Ability to work in a team environment. **Belonging Statement** We believe that all people should feel welcomed, valued and supported, and that our workforce should be reflective of the communities we serve. **QUALIFICATIONS** + EDUCATION - H.S.
