The Lab Supervisor manages the lab team which is responsible for all testing, data acquisition, equipment maintenance, and improvements. This position ensures projects are completed on time by maintaining resourcing schedules while working with New Product, Applications, and Sustaining Engineering. 

Responsible for leading lab technician team who focuses on testing, R&D, and product validation.

Oversees and contributes to the development and implementation of testing methods to fulfill the needs of internal and external customers. 

Determines standardized testing methods by understanding product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing material cost estimates.

Researches and makes recommendations for lab enhancements or modifications to support cost reduction and quality improvements.

Collaborates with Engineering Managers/Supervisors to ensure testing requests are successfully completed while maintaining project deadlines, working closely with Program Management.

Actively communicates testing results, delays, and areas of product improvement or concern.

Performs administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports and assists with the development and implementation of departmental budgets.

Actively oversees testing and prototyping schedules and resourcing needs.

Drives productivity gains via process improvements, visual management techniques, system automation, standardization, etc.

Responsible for supervision of direct reports regarding project responsibilities, project commitments, performance evaluations and HR issues in collaboration with the department Manager. 

Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

7+ years experience in testing lab environments

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Proficient in AutoDesk and Microsoft Office Suite

Proficient in industry standards, automation and data acquisition. Experience in quality and calibration preferred.

Proficient in multiple prototyping and manufacturing methods to drive safety and efficiency

Self-motivated, quick to deliver and a team player

Proven problem-solving record desired

Able to demonstrate a high level of integrity with a strong work ethic and high level of self-accountability

Strong management skills including, the ability to handle objections and rejections, conflict management, mentoring and coaching, team leadership, delegation and negotiation skills
