As a Lab Patient Technician, you will be responsible for the specimen collection process, from greeting patients through to preparation of specimens for transportation. This is an important role in patient care and our business and will let you see the difference that you make in patients’ lives.
Status: Temporary Part Time (Float)
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 5:00pm and occasional Saturday mornings
Additional requirements: This posting is intended to support operational needs arising from vacations, sick calls, and leaves of absence (LOAs). Successful candidates will also provide coverage to enable teams to participate in training for new initiatives. A personal vehicle is considered an asset, as these roles require coverage across multiple sites in the Ottawa West region, sometimes on short notice. Shift times will fall within the hours of operation, typically between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday morning shifts. Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent are preferred. Phlebotomy experience is an asset. ECG training or experience is an asset Excellent communication skills. Good computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm. Strong customer/patient service with the ability to relate to patients and clients even in stressful situations Strong empathy, flexibility, adaptability to change, and problem-solving skills Ability to maintain the strictest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.
