Job Title: Lab ChemistJob Description
As a Lab Chemist, you will interpret test data and determine the suitability of raw materials, work in process, and finished stock in accordance with safety standards and specifications. You will also provide technical assistance to the local plant environmental program while ensuring that all work meets applicable QA/QC guidelines.
Responsibilities
+ Inspect all incoming drums and perform basic analysis of samples following prescribed procedures.
+ Operate and utilize lab instrumentation required to run basic analysis.
+ Complete all paperwork associated with analysis and drum sampling.
+ Manage waste generated as a result of analytical procedures responsibly.
+ Approve work orders, calculate fill weights, and perform quality checks prior to and during work order fulfillment.
+ Obtain samples prior to, during, and upon order completion.
+ Complete orders systematically in WIN and generate Certificates of Analysis as necessary.
+ Print associated paperwork and provide to necessary parties.
+ Manage supply inventory in your area of responsibility.
+ Maintain a safe working environment in compliance with OSHA regulations and company health and safety protocols.
+ Perform other assignments as assigned by management.
Essential Skills
+ Strong background in chemistry, quality assurance, and quality control.
+ Proficiency in laboratory operations, sample processing, and calibrations.
+ Experience with GC-MS, wet chemistry, raw materials testing, and drum sampling.
+ Understanding of waste management and analytical procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High School diploma or equivalency required; BS in Chemistry or related science preferred.
+ 0-1 years of related experience.
+ 40-hour OSHA training.
+ Ability to work in a team environment and take direction.
+ Solid understanding of math, chemistry, and chemical testing.
+ Good communication and organizational skills.
+ Initiative and proficiency in Windows-based applications.
+ Knowledge of CHI systems and facility-specific Waste Analysis Plans.
Work Environment
The work environment includes 8-9 hour shifts between 6 AM to 6 PM, Monday through Friday, with flexibility to determine your schedule with the plant manager and supervisor. Standard OSHA PPE is required, including steel-toed boots/shoes, safety goggles, safety lab coat, and depending on location, a safety helmet. The team consists of 22 people, with a structure that includes reporting to a lab supervisor and plant manager. The lab environment frequently requires standing, pulling, pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping, and crouching. Occasionally, it involves sitting, climbing, walking, lifting, grasping, crawling, and near vision acuity.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $36.00/hr.
