This role ensures the lab is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies. The Lab Assistant also follows safety protocols and assists researchers, faculty, or students with routine tasks to support the overall function and efficiency of the lab. General Duties and Responsibilities 1. preparation of lab supplies for selected labs in the life sciences and chemistry departments to be determined each year based on specific needs, with priority going to support labs that are being taught by new, adjunct, or visiting instructors 2. transitions between labs taught in the same space in New London Hall and Olin, as needed 3. maintenance of chemical storage, inventory, and waste disposal for classes 4. maintenance of dry goods storage and inventory for classes 5. routine maintenance of common equipment (e.g. microscopes, pipetmen, spectrophotometers, pH meters, balances, etc.) 6. routine maintenance of the autoclave in NLH and the NMR in Hale 7. coordination of equipment repairs (calling service technicians, arranging the repair visits, etc.) 8. hiring and supervising student workers, as needed Education and Skills Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and at least 3 years of lab experience. Experience with a broad range of equipment and lab techniques preferred. Candidates will be expected to work independently and manage their own time to complete their work. Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands Driving Required No Salary Range $25.00 - $29.00 Note Connecticut College is committed to fair and competitive compensation.
