Responsibilities: + Handles blood and blood products by accessioning patient samples, spinning down the blood in the centrifuge and logging all blood products in the computer + Set up, maintain, calibrate, clean, and test sterility of medical laboratory equipment. + Prepare solutions used for laboratory testing and procedures + Prepare specimens for testing under the guidance of a medical technologist. + Ensures all computer entries are accurate. + Places orders in LIS and files various documents + Provides customer assistance by answering the phone for the department + Receives customer orders and communicates these orders to the technologists + Screens all other calls and directs them as appropriate Qualifications/Requirements: Experience: + Some experience in a laboratory setting. Any combination of education, training and experience that has supplied the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to perform the essential functions of the job Education: + High School Diploma or equivalent Licenses / Certifications: + N/A Other: + Demonstrate competency in routine testing in assigned Laboratory area. + Ability to effectively relate and communicate with internal and external customers. + Basic knowledge of laboratory information systems. + Ability to organize tasks and projects work without close supervision to complete tasks.
