Lab Animal Services Leader

We are looking for a Lab Animal Services Leader (LAS) who is proactive, detail-oriented, and collaborative with a good knowledge of regulations and national standards relating to the care and use of animals in research to join our Lab Animal Services team, based in our Belgium Braine-L'alleud office.

 

About the role

As the LAS Leader, you will oversee the training of in-vivo scientists, manage veterinary pharmacy operations, and serve as the system owner for Ticket Lab globally. You will play a key role in ensuring animal welfare, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence across the lab animal services function.

 

Who you’ll work with

You’ll work closely with the Head of LAS, the Animal Welfare Body, and cross-functional stakeholders involved in research, compliance, and system operations. You’ll also support the Ethical Compliance for Animal Experiments (ECAE) coordinator and collaborate with internal and external partners to uphold high standards in animal care and research practices.

 

What you’ll do

Train research staff in animal techniques and supervise their competenceManage veterinary pharmacy: prescription, storage, and distributionOversee Ticket Lab system strategy, compliance, and trainingEnsure animal health and welfare follow-up, including on-call dutiesPublish NTS and Retrospective Analysis in the EU Allures databaseMaintain compliance records and ethical project documentation

Minimum requirements

Doctor in Veterinary Medicine2-3 years working experience with Vet technical proceduresCertificate in Laboratory Animal Science Level C Technical & surgery expertise on rodentsFluent in English and French (spoken and written)Willingness to be on-call during weekends and holidaysAbility to travel domestically and internationally as business necessitates

Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skillsAbility to multi-task and flexible attitude to work  Love challenging status quo and acting on the floor Ability to clearly present and convey information to individuals and groupsInteract and communicate with all levels in the organization and with external partners
