Lab Analyst - Microbiology

We are currently recruiting for a Lab Analyst (Microbiology) to join our team here in Cork on a 12-month contract. As a Lab Analyst, you will be responsible for in-process and final product quality analyses/inspection in compliance with standards and regulatory requirements. The Lab Analyst is responsible for performing routine chemical and microbiological analysis in an accurate and timely manner ensuring the manufacturing process is continuous and the finished product is ready for release. The Lab Analyst is also required to lead and/or assist with in-house Laboratory validation studies/projects. In this role a typical day will include:

Interpret and evaluate the analyses in terms of accuracy and precision compared against established specifications.

Perform routine chemical and microbiological analysis as required by the laboratory. Collect and prepare samples for chemical and microbiological analysis across shifts as required.

Identify on-going quality issues, prevent potential production issues, and make suggestions for improvement.

Use various measuring devices, testing equipment, predetermined methods, operations, setups, and prescribed specifications to accept or reject products.

Work from blueprints, diagrams, dial indicators, preset micrometers, scales, fixtures, customer specifications, drawing or inspection instructions and checklists.

Complete periodic reviews

Scheduling and closing out Annual preventative maintenance (Maximo)

Work order generation & completion for equipment repairs

Assist in completing the Annual budget

Identify and lead CIP’s

What you’ll bring to Alcon:

Minimum – Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry/Microbiology or technically related discipline

Preferred – Bachelor (Hons) Degree or Master’s degree in chemistry/Microbiology or technically related discipline

Strong microbiology technical knowledge (HPLC, endotoxin testing), with system troubleshooting and validation experience.

Good attention to detail,

Ability to work on own initiative

Technical understanding of chemical/microbiology processes
