ABOUT THE JOB (JOB BRIEF)

The Trust Team Manager manages a group of trust professionals that are focused on professional quality administration with emphasis on high technical competence and client service to ensure that needs of High Net Worth clients and beneficiaries are met.  Confidentiality and privacy of client information is paramount.  The role will have leadership responsibility for a team of Officers, Analysts and/or Associates/Assistants.

Fulfills fiduciary responsibilities of KeyBank by providing expert administration and counsel to High Net Worth clients and beneficiaries. Actively manages trust relationships, in accordance with established policies and procedures, to a high professional standard. Retains and deepens profitable client relationships within assigned revenue base.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The role of the Trust Team Manager is to act as a player coach to the Private Bank specialty trust team to develop a holistic understanding of each client’s needs, engaging the appropriate resources to provide solutions to meet those needs through:

Leadership

Serves as on-site business lead for urgent matters in cases where functional management is remoteSupports business objectives through active advocacy and behavioral adoptionPromotes professional team atmosphere that encourages open expression of ideas and opinions leading to successful sales environmentManages and promotes consistent integration of critical fiduciary processes and systems into the team to maximize resource utilization, efficiency and return on investment. Coordinates, promotes and enhances working relationships with Portfolio Management, Legal, Relationship Managers and Operations for effective delivery of client services within the team.

Fiduciary Expertise

Maintains deep expertise in fiduciary, investment, tax, and other related wealth issuesDesigns and delivers sophisticated fiduciary solutions, using relationship team model, to high net worth clients with complex financial needsFulfills Key’s fiduciary responsibilities, ensuring retention of business and reputationAdvises partners on internal fiduciary issues

Trust Administration

Guides and influences the administration of fiduciary accountsAnalyzes and interprets legal instruments to determine duties and responsibilities of bankCollaborates with Fiduciary Management to prevent and resolve fiduciary issues. Applies sound fiduciary judgment to trust mattersProvides guidance to staff on complex issues

Client Management

Provides guidance to other members of the client service team that is proactive and relevantAnticipates and advises clients on evolving financial goals and objectives

Compliance

Exerts managerial control to ensure compliance with all internal policies and procedures, as well as regulatory and legal requirements on individual book of business and assigned team.  Assumes responsibility for the timely resolution of Compliance-related issues on team-assigned fiduciary accounts. Assumes accountability for all delegated work on assigned accounts

Reputation

Meets and engages with clients, prospective clients, attorneys, accountants, consultants, and co-fiduciariesFosters close business relationships to develop client loyalty and new business opportunitiesCreates and executes on opportunities to showcase as subject-matter-expert presenterEnhances Key’s reputation with high net worth individuals and their influencersDevelops and maintains knowledge of Key’s investment process and resultsParticipates in KeyCorp’s commitment to community

Sales

Participates in the closing of new business as needed. Coaches team members to a level of outstanding to support the relationship team on the referral of new business. Pro-actively communicates with clients, prospective clients, attorneys, accountants, consultants, and co-fiduciaries, fostering business relationships to develop new business referrals and to enhance Key Private Bank's image.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of 10 years of trust administration and fiduciary advisory services or its equivalentUndergraduate degree in business related field or equivalent experienceAdvanced degree or Certified Trust and Financial Advisor preferredAbility to advance business success of his/her sales and client servicing team through personal contributionCompletion of Cannon Trust Schools I, II and III or equivalent knowledge from other industry training or equivalent experience preferred

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Professional Designation preferred – JD, CPA, LLM, CTFA, CFP, CWS or advanced degree as appropriateDemonstrated proficiency and effectiveness in client service skills (including handling client/prospect and Center of Influence (COI) inquiries and relationships), communication skills (including verbal, phone and written), and problem resolution skills.Demonstrated proficiency and effectiveness in organizational skills including the ability to balance multiple requests and prioritize tasks in an efficient manner or order to support multiple people.Ability to interact effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.Ability to work, make decisions and manage client relationships independently while managing competing priorities.Ability to multi-task, quickly change direction and have an independent work ethic.Ability to exercise discretion due to accessing and handling highly sensitive information.Demonstrated attention to detail.Ability to learn and use proprietary software, databases and systems.Proficient in all Microsoft Office Applications

WORKSPACE CATEGORY

Office-Based/Assigned teammates primarily work from their designated Key location (at least 4 days a week), but they have the flexibility to work remotely on occasion.
