Position Overview

As a Lead Kitchen Cleaner, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation in all kitchen and food preparation areas. You will lead a team of kitchen cleaning staff, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations while supporting the overall efficiency of kitchen operations. This role is essential to creating a safe, hygienic, and organized environment for culinary teams and staff.

Key Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the kitchen cleaning team. Ensure all kitchen areas, including floors, equipment, storage, and food prep surfaces, are cleaned and sanitized according to health and safety standards. Monitor cleaning schedules and assign tasks to ensure timely and thorough completion. Train and mentor cleaning staff on proper sanitation procedures, chemical handling, and equipment use. Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations. Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment; coordinate restocking as needed. Collaborate with kitchen leadership to support smooth operations during peak service times and special events. Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate departments. Basic Qualifications High school diploma or GED. 3+ years of experience in commercial kitchen cleaning or janitorial services, including 1+ year in a leadership role. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards (e.g., HACCP, ServSafe). Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Preferred Skills and Experience Experience in high-volume or institutional food service environments. Strong leadership and communication skills. Familiarity with industrial cleaning equipment and chemical safety protocols. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks. Comfortable working in hot, humid, and fast-paced kitchen environments.
