KIP Fall 2025 - Events Intern - R Street Institute

The Koch Internship Program (KIP) is a paid, 10-week experiential learning program run by that offers meaningful work experience at non-profits all over the country tackling some of our nation’s most pressing . Throughout your internship with a partner organization, Stand Together Fellowships hosts virtual professional development sessions every Thursday from 1-5 pm ET, wherein you will be mentored by seasoned professionals as you craft a capstone project on the topic that matters most to you. Interns will receive either a $5,500 or $3,300 stipend from Stand Together Fellowships depending on whether they are participating full-time (40 hours/week) or part-time (28 hours/week). Successful candidates will interview with both our non-profit partner organizations and Stand Together Fellowships staff, so we strongly encourage you to apply in advance!
ROLE SUMMARYSupport in-person and virtual events, as well as assist with R Street event-related data management, planning creatively for future event opportunities, and more. This role will work cross-functionally with R Street’s policy and Government Affairs teams as needed. The individual in this position will be part of the Events unit which is nested within the broader Communications team at R Street, providing the opportunity to meet and learn from a wide variety of experts in the field.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEventsSupporting logistics for the organization’s in-person events held in Washington, D.C. and the surrounding area, as well as assisting with virtual eventsCollaborating with colleagues on the policy and shared services teams to promote events to audiencesExecuting logistics action items for well-run, professional events, including coordination with staff, contractors, and event participantsIdentifying ways to improve our event planning and execution
Communications & BrandingSupporting the Event Team’s data management systemsHelping prepare and review event-related communications, including a newsletter and follow-up communicationsWorking collaboratively with R Street staff to help maximize the impact and reach of the Institute’s wide range of policy research and writingAssisting with the marketing of other R Street policy programs to general audiences, organizations, foundations, media outlets and other stakeholdersPitching ideas for fun and cost-effective swag itemsParticipate in collaborative team meetings and planning sessions
