About the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation The National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation is a nonprofit, charitable organization whose mission is to eliminate compulsory unionism abuses through strategic litigation and public information programs.
The Right to Work principle affirms the right of every American to earn a living without being forced to belong to a union. Despite this principle, millions of workers are compelled to associate with unions to keep their jobs.
Since 1968, the Foundation has provided free legal aid to individual workers to enforce and expand their rights against compulsory unionism. To this end, Foundation attorneys have long been at the forefront of litigating key cases involving the First Amendment, labor law, administrative law, and religious liberties. This includes litigating nearly every major Supreme Court case on compulsory unionism.
