Founded in 1998, Mystic Valley Regional Charter School (MVRCS) in Malden, Massachusetts serves over 1,700 students from Kindergarten through Grade 12. Students in Grades K–12 attend school in dress code and participate in a 200-day academic calendar. The school day is also 60 minutes longer than that of most traditional public schools. K–8 Music Teacher (Strings) Job Description
The Music Teacher is responsible for implementing Mystic Valley Regional Charter School’s (MVRCS) music program for students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Instruction is grounded in the Core Knowledge curriculum, and the Music Teacher (Strings) guides students in developing their artistic skills through hands-on learning, sample creation, and individualized coaching.
Responsibilities
+ Deliver a structured program of study aligned with documented curricula
+ Design and implement lessons with clear learning objectives and measurable outcomes
+ Regularly assess student progress and provide timely progress reports and report cards
+ Collaborate and communicate weekly with colleagues in the Specials department and the assigned Assistant Director
+ Consistently apply the school’s assertive discipline model to maintain a positive classroom environment
+ Attend all staff meetings and actively participate in professional development opportunities
+ Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Director
Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in Music and/or Music Education
+ Clear and effective oral and written communication skills
+ Ability to analyze information, solve problems, and make sound recommendations
+ Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community
+ Knowledge of school policies, state and federal regulations, and MVRCS procedures
+ Proven collaboration, teaching, coaching, and leadership abilities to support student success and teamwork
+ Strong organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities effectively
+ Expertise in music education content and related laws and procedures
+ Ability to design and implement lessons that align with district and school goals while meeting the diverse needs of students
+ Successful completion of applicable MTEL requirements within one year of employment
+ This is an annual appointment subject to yearly evaluation
