Data Science and Biostatistics Excellence team in Global Animal Health Manufacturing is looking for a part time junior statistician to join our team. The team is dedicated to helping advance animal health through a diverse range of products, and as a student statistician, you’ll have the opportunity to apply and enhance your statistics skills while solving an array of challenges. By maintaining high standards of analytical methods in product quality control, your work will make a real impact in our mission to improve the well-being of animals worldwide. As a student statistician, you will work alongside experienced data scientists and statisticians who will mentor on technical level and help you grow.  

Interning as a Student Statistician for Data Science and Biostatistics Excellence you will gain:

Understanding the business context of the decisions to be supported.Suggesting, testing, and implementing biostatistical methods to satisfy business needs.Analytical and coding skills and understanding of the existing code base in R. Staying up to date with the most recent development in R and its packages.Working with multiple collaboration tool such as Jira, Git and GitHub.Proficiency in statistical techniques such as Design of Experiments (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), regression analysis, general linear models, and multivariate methods.Ability to communicate statistical concepts and analyses to non-statisticians.Additional skills related to core data science and biostatistics including exploratory data analysis, running simple statistical tests, and drawing high-level conclusions from the data. 

Qualification and Minimum Requirement:

Studying Statistics, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, or another related field with a strong emphasis on statistics. Master’s and PhD students preferred.  

Experience and Skills: 

Required: 

Passion for statistical thinking and good quality code.Experience with at least basic R.Teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to actively participate in group discussions, share ideas, and work collectively to address complex problems.

Advantage: 

Knowledge in one or more of the following areas: mathematical analysis and modelling, probability, stochastic processes, simulation.Solid background in advanced modeling, including generalized linear models, linear mixed models, and generalized linear mixed-effects models.

Experience in at least one of the listed areas:

Advanced R. JMP or Minitab.Background in biology or chemistry.

Desired Aspirations Towards Following Experience and Skills:

The ability to formulate algorithms and statistical models, analyse them, program them, and run simulations in appropriate system.Broad communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to make presentations for business.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to work with incomplete or imperfect data, including ability to interpret and use the analytics results within the real business context.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a globally dispersed team.
