Job Description

 As a Junior OHS Advisor, you will provide support to the country's OHS team. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the team with various occupational health and safety matters, helping to ensure compliance with the OHS Contract (Tracking, reporting, etc) as well as any Group & Asia OHS initiatives, Veolia's HRMS, and OHS best practices. You will learn to support the team in assessing workplace hazards, contributing to the development and implementation of OHS policies and procedures, assisting with accident reduction initiatives, and helping to promote a culture of safety within the organization. Your work will contribute to the improvement of occupational health and safety standards at a national level. You will also support the Japan OHS Director and the broader Japan team in managing communications with Corporate & Zone.

Reporting to the OHS Director, this position is responsible for:

Providing support and assistance to the country's OHS team regarding occupational health and safety matters.

Assisting with assessments of workplace hazards, identifying potential risks, and supporting the recommendation of appropriate control measures.

Supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of OHS policies, procedures, and programs to meet legal requirements and industry standards.

Collaborating with the OHS team to establish effective systems for incident reporting, investigation, and analysis, helping to identify trends and track actions to be completed.

Staying updated with local and international OHS regulations, Veolia and international standards, and emerging trends, and helping to provide updates and recommendations to the OHS team.

Supporting the country's OHS team in conducting HRMS audits and OHS on the ground inspections as well as technical OHS inspections, identifying areas for improvement, and assisting with the implementation of corrective actions.

Actively participating in the review of national OHS policies, guidelines, and legislation.

Collaborating with other stakeholders of the company (management, operations, procurement, Human Resources) to support and promote OHS initiatives and share best practices.

Providing assistance during emergencies or incidents, helping to ensure timely response, investigation, and implementation of preventive measures.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.

Some experience working in an OHS role or a similar capacity, preferably in a technical function.

Familiarity with national and international OHS regulations, standards, and best practices.

Analytical skills, with the ability to identify workplace hazards and contribute to recommending appropriate control measures.

Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Basic understanding of OHS policies, procedures, and training programs.

Eagerness to stay updated with emerging trends and advancements in the field of occupational health and safety.

Proactive approach to problem-solving.

Organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines as well as demonstrating ability to follow-up on tasks & projects.

Entry-level certification in Occupational Health and Safety is desirable.

English fluency is required and Japanese will be considered as an asset.
