Position Overview
We are looking for a motivated Junior Naval Architecture Designer to join an industry-leading team supporting the development of offshore floating production systems. In this role, you will assist in the preparation of technical 2D drawings and detailed 3D models, contributing to the overall design and engineering of FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) units. You will collaborate closely with experienced engineers and designers, gaining valuable exposure to various project phases from concept to execution.
Key Responsibilities
Create and modify 2D drawings using AutoCAD for naval architecture and offshore system layouts. Develop accurate 3D models to support engineering and design validation. Contribute to the layout of accommodation areas, lifesaving equipment, and topside/deck arrangements. Assist in loading and stability calculations and participate in documentation. Support the team in shipyard bidding processes and procurement activities. Participate in inclining experiments and support newbuild floater design processes. Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, classification requirements, and project standards.
Skills & Qualifications
Naval Architecture: Solid understanding of basic naval architecture principles, including hydrostatics and vessel design. Language Proficiency: Fluent in English, both written and spoken. FPSO Familiarity: Basic understanding of FPSO systems and offshore design practices is an advantage. AutoCAD: Experience in creating technical 2D drawings (preferred). 3D Modeling: Basic skills in 3D modeling software (preferred). Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and take direction from senior engineers.
Education & Experience
Education: Dutch MBO-level degree or equivalent in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related technical field. Certification: A professional certification in Naval Architecture is considered a plus. Entry-Level: Ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals eager to grow in offshore design.
