No relocation assistance is offered for this position. **Note** : We are aiming for September 1st as starting date. **Core Responsibilities** In this temporary position as Junior Mechanical Engineer, it will be your core responsibility to develop technical solutions for complex new LEGO® functions and elements according to design specifications, production platforms, product safety, etc. More specifically, you will: + Identify and develop the best technical solutions through 3D CAD files of LEGO® bricks that have never been seen before. + Interpret and implement current quality standards with focus on functions, building systems and product safety. + Test prototypes and verify material choices, function of elements and product safety. + Ensure a successful handover to the NED (Novelty Element Development) internal and external teams. **Play your part in our team succeeding** You will join the Novelty Element Development FrontEnd team consisting of 16 creative and dedicated colleagues with engineering backgrounds. The team explores, qualifies and validates technical solutions for new innovative LEGO elements and functions in novelty projects in close collaboration with Product Designers, Mould Designers and Process Experts in the initial stages of the development phase. Initial development is characterized with changes during the execution, and therefore agility is a keyword. The main objective is to create exciting new LEGO elements in the fastest possible way and ensure minimum risk in the later execution of the novelty project. **Do you have what it takes?** The ideal candidate has minimum a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Integrated Design, Industrial Design, Manufacturing and Robust Design or equivalent. In addition, you have: + Experience with 3D CAD systems, preferably Siemens NX. + Experience with product development and an explorative mindset around creating function elements. + Knowledge about injection moulding and plastic materials. + Ability to navigate from an open task brief and identify the right solutions through exploration. + Thorough, detail-oriented and structured work approach. + Great collaboration skills and being a team player. + Proficiency in English both verbal and written.
