Junior Integration, Verification, Validation and Quality (IVVQ) Test Engineer – Procurement Support
Position Summary
Thales Canada, Defence & Security is engaged in supporting the Canadian Army’s Land Command, Control, Communications & Computers (C4) Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (LC4ISR) systems which enable critical decisions on a daily basis. Together with industry partners, Thales is building on the existing networks and applications to enhance digitized operations, support communications between joint and allied forces, and monitor and defend against the threats and evolving capabilities of potential adversaries.
To support our growth, the IVVQ team (Integration, Verification, Validation, and Quality Team) is looking to add an IVVQ Test Specialist to their team based in Ottawa. The IVVQ Specialist plays a critical role as part of the Ottawa Engineering team responsible for the design, conduct, and reporting of IVVQ activities.
Please note that this role will involve significant office/lab work as well as working at client site(s). Travel may be required.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Write test plans and test procedures that will properly verify and validate the product.Plan and Execute Test Events.Analyze requirements and contribute to the development of traceability matrices.Develop Test cases.Work with System and Software Engineering in identifying and analyzing defects.Raise project issues/risks and track to resolution.Provide Test Reports and status updates on test activities.Deploy methodologies (including metrics), tools/platforms necessary for test activitiesObserve test guidelines and Company internal processesMinimum Requirements
Previous experience with:Software, hardware, or a combination thereofDemonstrated capabilities:Fluent in English, skilled communicator, both written and spoken.Attention to Detail.Ability to acquire and maintain Canadian Secret, Controlled Goods, ITAR, NATO Secret and COMSEC security clearances.Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in military systems.System of systems engineering and integrationCore networkApplicationsIntelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance (ISTAR)Experience handling and working on physical systems, products, or equipment. Experience Testing or performing verification on software.Experience with Procurement SupportExperience with IBM DOORS.Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Technology, or other related discipline from a recognized university or college.Physical Demands
Test sites can be located in difficult-to-navigate areas. This could include shipyards, construction sites, remote wilderness locations. Although infrequent, such sites may need to be used for certain test events. The ability to navigate such sites is a necessity.Minimal lifting of test and electronic equipment in a lab or field environment.Special Position Requirements
